Effective every July, the City of Hughson adjusts the rates for water, sewer and garbage. Water is increased according to the Proposition 218 notification approved on July 13, 2015 and effective August 1, 2015. Sewer is increased according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Per the agreement with Gilton garbage rate will not increase until July 2020. The next rate adjustment will take place in July 2020.

Garbage is collected on all days except New Year’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If the No Service Date falls on a regular scheduled collection date, it will be collected the following day, with the exception of Sunday.
The flat rate fee is $22.84 each month for the one pass truck and two 96-gallon cart system. Overfilled containers will not be emptied in order to keep our streets free of refuse and to ensure the safety of Gilton drivers. Blue recycling bags are available at Hughson City Hall. 2020 Christmas Tree Collection Program Dates and Information
Gilton Solid Waste Management will be doing curbside collection of Christmas trees after the holiday. They will be collected during the first two FULL weeks in January starting on January 4th and ending on January 15th.
Please remember the following if participating in the Christmas Tree Collection Program:
- Trees need to be in front of the house (even if customers have alley service)
- Trees will be collected on customer’s GARBAGE collection day
- Trees need to have all metal stands, lights and ornaments removed (wood stands are OK)
- Trees should be placed on the street surface next to the curb, but a minimum of 6 feet away from cars or refuse cans
- Prefer treated trees to be cut up and put in the garbage can, but it is not absolutely required
